The Institute for Research and Innovation in Social Services (IRISS) is a charitable organisation that works to improve the outcomes of service users by supporting and improving the capability of the the social services workforce.

IRISS' three inter-related programmes of work comprise a number of projects, many of which involve collaborative working with other partner organisations. These three programmes are:

• Evidence-informed practice – promoting the use of research evidence to inform practice
• Innovation and improvement – developing new and creative ways of 'thinking' and 'doing' things differently in social services
• Knowledge media – harnessing the opportunities of the web and social media to promote and improve the processes for generating and sharing knowledge across social services.
