The European Policies Research Centre is a research institute in the School of Government & Public Policy in the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences at the University of Strathclyde. It specialises in the following areas of research:

  • Regional development and regional policy in Europe: national policies for regional economic development; regional governance and economic development; regional innovation policies and cluster strategies; economic restructuring, regional development and regional policy in the new Member States;
  • EU Cohesion policy: the negotiation and design of EU Cohesion policy; the planning, management, implementation and evaluation of Structural and Cohesion Funds programmes and strategies for regional economic development;
  • European territorial development: the contribution of EU policies to territorial cohesion; studies of inter-regional, cross-border and transnational programmes;
  • Competition policy and subsidy discipline: State aid control policies under the EC and EEA Treaties and the Europe Agreements;
  • Regional innovation policies: regional innovation and enterprise; university engagement in regional development
